"For the Medieval faithful, Hell was the place of turmoil, pain, despair, wretchedness, and a general bad time"
I can't help feeling that Dante was thinking about orthodontics when he first described Hades, and the description above rather sums up what i'm expecting to face in the next 2 years. I will be blogging my way accross the orthodontic circles of hell, offering my thoughts on the fires of jaw surgery and, if I survive, describing my emergence into the mandibular sun of a perfect smile. This blog is inspired by those brave souls who have already blogged their own journey, and who's words continue to inspire and motivate me.
Character list - who's who in the underworld
Dr H. - orthodontist and chief torturer
Mr T.- jaw surgeon and saviour
A. - long suffering boyfriend
Sizzle - bff offering support and cocktails
K. - opinionated older sister
Ma - disapproving mother
What's up with me?
I had a Class III malocclusion (underbite), anterior openbite and crossbites to each side. On 1st May 2010, after almost 18 months in braces I underwent LeFort I advancing my maxilla 4mm and setting back my lower jaw by 2mm.
